Redemption
This scene bring so much joy to when
watching it again, its shows the character Andy Dufrene after crawling through
a sewer pipe the length of 5 football pitch out of prison releasing all that
wound up pressure he had on from being in prisoned in Shawshank.
The film genre is Crime/Drama, which is based
around two characters played by (Tim Robins and Morgan Freeman) and there strong
build they build whilst being inmates together.
The crime part of the genre takes places with Andy Dufrene being wrongfully
convicted of murder of his wife and her lover and being sentenced to life in
shawshank prison where he meet a soon to be good friend ‘Red’. The drama consists of the two men and there
journey and experiences whilst being locked up.
The director of the film was Frank Darabont a three time Oscar nomine I
really enjoyed mood of the story and how the director created the impression
that andy had always been up to no good and always one step ahead of everyone.
He also produced and developed one of my favorite series at the moment the
Walking Dead.
Tony
Dufrene played by Tim Robins was originally supposed to be played by Tom Cruise
and Red played by Morgan Freeman was supposed to be Harrison Ford, I’m really
glad that the director made that risky decision of casting theses two actors
because I really paid off in the success of the film. Looking back on the idea
I personally can’t see Tom cruise playing the character as ‘Andy’ and having
his personality, however I could see Harrison Ford playing the character ‘Red’
even though I really enjoyed Morgan Freeman’s performance in the film and what
he brought to the character.
The film had quiet a lot of memorable
quotes that made me laugh, I especially really thought the idea of Morgan
Freeman narrating the majority of the film helped bring the structure of the
story to life, and come on you cant deny that he voice doesn’t just make you
want to stop what ever your doing and just listen. This is one of my favorite
quotes from the movie were Andy has out smarted the warden out of his money a
the police are about to break into his office and arrest him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWi2QooA51o
Red: “I'd like to think that the last thing that went through his head,
other than that bullet, was to wonder how the hell Andy Dufresne ever got the
best of him”.
The location used in the film for the
prison was not a film set but instead a real prison based in The Ohio State Reformatory which was used in several number of films. It
helped some of the scenes in the film to give it a sense of realism.
